HOW TO: Slick Back

Big loose curls has always been my staple hair style, I already mastered how it's done so even if i'm in a rush i can get it done in 10 minutes. But i also want to look different sometimes so i experiment with different hairstyles like braids, buns, etc etc..

One day i noticed my dark roots needs to get touched up, but i can't be bothered. So i thought of a hair style that will hide my dilemma. I bet you already know by the title of this blog, but yeah SLICK BACK hairstyle saved the day! The illusion of it being wet hides my roots, what a brilliant idea!

So few days after, i had my roots touched up professionally then my friends invited me to a night out, i decided to pull off the same hair style because no one saw me the first time. You won't believe how much compliments i've got! Not only i look different and it's the first time for them to see me in that hairstyle but it just looks sophisticated, so neat! (bonus that it took me no time to get it done). A lot of my friends asked me how i did it, that's why i'm here to share it all with you...

Starting off by using a Heat protectant spray, before straightening my hair. I is very important to get our hair protected to avoid heat damage. It doesn't matter how you do it and what kind of straightener you use, just get rid of the waves. Incase you're wondering what did i use, its the Tresemme Heat Tamer Spray

and Bedhead Tigi Rumor.

Now this is the fun part, sculpting the hair! I think hair mousse is the best product for this hair style, because it hardens like a gel without leaving white flakes and it doesn't weigh down the hair as well. The one i used is the White Rain Volumizing Weightless Mousse.

I went a bit over board with the mousse because my hair is extremely thick, but i suggest if you have thin hair just put the right amount.

Run your fingers through, we don't want to be as neat.

Then brush JUST the sides...

You can also tease the top part if you want a bit of height, it's a personal preference really and depends what look you're going for. Then wait for the mousse to set, don't worry it hardens very quickly. After that, part the top section and tie the two sections on the sides using an elastic band then cover the tie with the top section, it looks like this...

Use a finishing hair spray after the finishing touches.

Now you're all set! It's so easy, isn't it? How quick was that?
